Samantha Richter, COO of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation (AHLF) interviews Carolyn Lieberman, the Southern California Coastal Program Coordinator for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS). The USFWS has a local office in Carlsbad and a history of working on projects with the Lagoon Foundation. This episode will discuss their partnership with an ongoing project, the eradication of an invasive species Algerian Sea Lavender (Limonium ramosissimum) in the Agua Hedionda Watershed.

 The USFWS is a bureau within the Department of the Interior with the objectives of:

  • Assisting in the development and application of an environmental stewardship ethic for our society, based on ecological principles, scientific knowledge of fish and wildlife, and a sense of moral responsibility.
  • Guide the conservation, development, and management of the Nation's fish and wildlife resources.
  • Administer a national program to provide the public opportunities to understand, appreciate, and wisely use fish and wildlife resources.
